Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. new Portrequest site

Richard Bejtlich announced on BSD News the new project - Portrequest. If you want to port some new software in FreeBSD Ports Collection, just write send your request there and put some comments about it. Though I really doubt this aproach will be successful. Speaking from exclusively my experience, the most people port the software which is *interesting* for those people, and also useful for the job. If you want to improve your ports skills, just go to freshmeat.net, choose the interesting software, grep the Ports Collection in case if the port already exists, if not - open Porters Handbook and start to port :)

I saw a lot of ports request on freebsd-ports and many experienced ports committers picked up these requests and proceeded with work. I think it’s still the best place to ask for somebody’s help than creating the new site to connect such requests with the people who just want to learn to create the ports.

xterm patch #209

Thomas Dickey removed the useful for double-clicking on a URL *charClass from XTerm.ad and added new options - on2Clicks, on3Clicks, on4Clicks and on5Clicks, so if you want your xterm to support double clicking on URLs, do not forget to put

*charClass: 33:48,35:48,37-38:48,43-47:48,58:48,61:48,63-64:48,126:48

www/linuxpluginwrapper

I had a feeling it won’t work, and it didn’t… No, I don’t like flash at all, but I need it to attend some URLs with it, so I tried it out. I’ve added some lines for flash6 support from /usr/local/share/examples/linuxpluginwrapper/libmap.conf-FreeBSD6 to /etc/libmap.conf, restarted firefox, looked at about : plugins and it didn’t find flash plugin. I wonder what Macromedia needs to release the native flash plugin for FreeBSD, money, developers or more users ? Maybe I need to mail to hates-software.com to complain about Macromedia :)
